US CITY PROJECT 

Our students in 1st-4th of the ESO are presenting their research projects about various cities in the United States. They planned trips across the 50 states and Washington DC, recommending the best restaurants, hotels, and activities all while sticking to a budget they created. When they finished their research, they were tasked with presenting their cities to the rest of their class in an interactive, engaging way. 

Many students chose Powerpoints to highlight their favorite options around the chosen cities. Some included videos to give their classmates a better idea of what it would be like to visit. The audience was given the chance to ask different questions at the end of the presentation, for example “When would you recommend visiting New York?”, “Why did you choose a Lakers game?”, or “Which hotel in Las Vegas would you choose?”. 

Despite the initial hesitation to speak in front of a classroom full of their peers in a foreign language, students enjoyed participating in a virtual trip around the United States, during a difficult time when travel even outside of Madrid is limited or restricted. Some students didn’t hold back, planning an extravagant week-long luxury trip, selecting the most expensive hotels available. Others chose more realistic plans, budgeting an affordable backpacker weekend getaway in hostels and restaurants friendly for the wall^hy tno¡0’et. Regardless of their strategy, each student learned about a new city in a different part of the world and learned valuable planning and speaking skills in the process. 

PROYECTO SOBRE CIUDADES AMERICANAS 

Nuestros alumnos de 1º a 4º de ESO han estado presentando sus proyectos de investigación sobre varias ciudades de Estados Unidos. Han planificado viajes a través de los 50 estados y Washington DC, recomendando los mejores restaurantes, hoteles y actividades y añadiendo un presupuesto calculado por ellos mismos. Al terminar su trabajo han presentado sus ciudades al resto de la clase de manera interactiva. 

Muchos alumnos eligieron Powerpoints para resaltar aspectos de las ciudades elegidas. Algunos han incluido vídeos para ofrecer a sus compañeros una mejor idea de cómo sería la visita. El resto de la clase ha tenido la oportunidad de hacer preguntas al final de la presentación, por ejemplo: “¿Cuándo recomendarías visitar Nueva York?” “¿Por qué elegiste un partido de los Lakers? o ¿Qué hotel en las Vegas elegirías?”. 

A pesar de los nervios del principio por hablar delante de una clase en un idioma extranjero, los alumnos han disfrutado participando en un viaje virtual alrededor de Estados Unidos, en un tiempo difícil en que viajar incluso fuera de Madrid ha estado limitado o prohibido. Algunos alumnos se han arriesgado a planear un lujoso viaje durante una semana, seleccionando los hoteles más caros disponibles. Otros eligieron planes más realistas, un fin de semana que incluso un mochilero puede permitirse en hostales y restaurantes económicos. Sea cual sea su elección, todos han aprendido sobre una ciudad nueva en una parte diferente del mundo y han desarrollado habilidades para planificar y hablar en inglés.

Proyecto Medioambiente. English - 2ºESO A.

We present to you the voluntary research project about the environment that some students from 2º ESO A have completed. It all started thanks to Elena’s congratulatory message to one of the students in 2 º ESO A due to their great work about clothes made out of recycled and rejected plastic bottles that are thrown into the sea. From there we thought...What if we also do it in English? 5 students from 2º ESO A decided to take on the challenge and research in English about interesting subjects like fertilizers, the impact of surgical masks on the environment, pen ink, hand sanitizer, and of course sustainable clothes. After they shared their knowledge with their own class and some even took the risk of presenting to other classes. The result has been noteworthy and we congratulate them for that. Here we will leave you with some samples from the project. 

 

Os presentamos el proyecto de investigación voluntario que han realizado algunos de los alumnos/as de 2º ESO A sobre el medio ambiente. Todo surgió gracias a la felicitación de la profesora Elena a uno de los alumnos de 2 º ESO A por su gran trabajo sobre ropa hecha de botellas de plástico recicladas y desechos que se tiran al mar. A partir de ahí, pensamos… ¿Y si también lo hacemos en Inglés? 5 alumnos de 2º ESO A decidieron tomar el reto e investigar en lengua extranjera sobre temas tan interesantes como fertilizantes, impacto de mascarillas quirúrgicas en el medio ambiente, tinta de bolígrafos, gel hidroalcohólico y por supuesto sobre la propia ropa sostenible. Después compartieron sus conocimientos con su propia clase y algunos/as también se lanzaron a exponerlo en otras. El resultado ha sido muy notorio y les felicitamos por ello.
